In the profession of Pest Control, it can be something that can really help people with taking out critters or other kinds of nuisances. You need the proper education to make sure that you don't incidentally end up hurting others. The Foundation Certificate in Pest Management, or FCPM is the beginning of your education. It is a 6-week course that will teach the basics about specific pests and learning how to manage equipment. It will give you some history of the business and why these jobs exist in the first place. The course will discuss the practical reasons for why we need people in this position. It will also give you specific, step-by-step instructions for what do when you start working. You will have to pay a fee in order to take this course, but you can do it completely online.
After you finish that course, it would be a good idea to be trained in level 2 pest management. This course is going to be much more expensive, but is the most important part of your qualifications. One of the most important things you study is the legislation of your job for health control purposes. You will be educated on the majority of equipment that you will have to use in your job. It will help you to identify the settings on the equipment and what you use it for. This part will require a lot more education, it's estimated you should study over 60 hours.
Rodenticides are important to look at even if you may not be entering this profession. These are strong chemicals created with the intention to get rid of pests so residents won't have to put up with them. To even purchase rodenticides, you need to present the seller with a CRRU approved certificate so you understand what you are using. There are safety programs exclusively for the use of those products, and is recommended to take a look at if you're going to buy them. Most pest control jobs are going to assume you know how to handle them.
Practical vertebrae trapping a part of your education that you will be required to learn. It requires that you research contraptions created for trapping animals and that you know how to handle them properly. If a human is caught in one of these machines it can be incredibly painful and lead to injury. One of the most important parts of this program is the legislation of these traps. Where you can use them, and the different animal groups that you can intend to use them on. This will only take a full day in the classroom.
Some of you may be interested in the pest control industry and may have an interest in eventually setting up your own business. This may be a shop to sell items to other people, or it may be your own service that you want to use and hire others to do jobs for. There is a lot to learn and a lot more responsibility you have to bear as a business owner.
The sales skills program is incredibly important if you intend on working in the business. This will teach you about how to sell your items properly and why people are buying them in the first place. This program is more geared towards how you can make your business around selling items for pest control successful. It's a niche market in the first place, so taking this part of the course will tell you a lot about what people are looking for and why they need it in the first place. Completing this will give you the BCPA certificate of completion and is the last part of your course.

Education

You may not be ready to actually operate machinery and start using chemicals yet however. The General Pest control test is going to give you a much more concrete idea of the kinds of challenges that you should be prepared to take on. This part of the course is going to test you a lot more on a technical level and teach you a lot of the current laws that you need to be caught up on.
Training
This part is going to be aimed more at the different contraptions that you are going to be using. Trapping animals is a normal strategy of snuffing them out and catching them. Being proactive against them usually isn't going to get you anywhere because they can react faster than you and are built for hiding in small places. Eventually, they are going to need to get out and that's when most traps are going to active. You need to be reactive, so that you don't make them hide somewhere else and end up wasting the trap.
Pest control in the garden can be a lot more complicated, you need to keep the grass low so you see the traps and don't end up hurting a bystander. You also have to make sure that you are using the traps for the sake of pest control. In most parts of the world, using these traps with the purpose of game is illegal in most parts of the world. The time and environment can also vary, so you need to check the laws of where you are. There are ways to set it free if it doesn't end up getting injured.
Learning the business
The business aspect of the industry can be one of the hardest parts for people who are young and don't have much experience running the important functions of a company. Most of the time, it's best to work your way up from the bottom, you get to learn why certain things are done, and you end up making better decisions for the technicians once you become a manager. What's important is that you can make better decisions than the manager that you had worked under. There are plenty of courses of how to run this kind of business properly.
The BCPA has two different programs relating to business. The first one is teaching you about sales skill and the other one is about creating a company. A lot of businesses want to be able to display their company name proudly, and the course teaches you how to properly brand your company. You are taught the basics on how to get insurance for the kind of company you are creating getting a license. One of the more important things you are taught is pricing, which is important because people are in this to make a profit on every product.
